We are pleased to announce that Charity Chibwe Mbolela Bwalya has been appointed as the Chapter Chair for Africa, succeeding Edwig Karipi.

Charity is an education specialist with the Directorate of Open and Distance Education, Principal Education Officer Distance Learning, Headquarters Zambia. Charity has 34 years of unbroken service in education, policy design, strategic management and planning, and participatory workshop facilitation. She delivers capacity building for open schools, Correctional Services (Prisons) and Colleges of Education. She is also involved in the development of self-instruction open and distance learning materials for Out of School Children (OOSC), youth and adult Literacy learners, as required.

Currently, Charity is the Principal Education Officer- Distance Learning in the Directorate of Open and Distance Education. She provides relevant learning opportunities to the out of school population through open and distance education; and specializes in working with the vulnerable and marginalized groups, women and children in the education setting.

Brought up and educated in Zambia, Charity holds a Master of Communications for Development degree (The University of Zambia, 2000). She pioneered Continuous Professional Development (CPDs) in Prisons in Zambia. As a Planner, she introduced District Education Board Secretaries (DEBS) and School Managers in the province to Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) -eLearning.
