Webinar: Building Teachers’ Capacity to Teach STEM with PhET Simulations in Africa: Experience Of The University Of Abuja, Nigeria Overview STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is widely recognised as a key driver of national sustainable development and innovative socioeconomic transformation. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is also seen as a vital tool for advancing this development. This global emphasis on STEM and ICT is reflected in the national priorities of most African countries. In line with these priorities, the Commonwealth of Learning and the University of Abuja have been collaborating to enhance learning outcomes in STEM education both in Africa and beyond.
Objective This webinar introduces participants to the University of Abuja’s experience in building the capacity of STEM teachers and educators, highlighting the effectiveness of using PhET simulations and Massive Open Online Courses.Note, PhET simulations are openly licensed for teaching as described on this link: https://phet.colorado.edu/en/licensing.
