Chapter 1 is highly informative and eye-opening. It deals with the challenges faced by education systems in every country all over the world. The challenges of providing access to quality education to displaced children, to school dropouts and adults who still aspire to continue with their education. It looks at the possible methods of provision like ODL, O/IS, OS, TEL and others. It touches on openness of education system and the reduction of educational costs in order to increase access to education for many.
In this chapter, the COL Theory of Change is described at length and how it has impacted education systems in countries where it has been implemented.
What I still find to require extensive debating is the issue of resistance to change by many senior educators, especially the resistance to adopt and integrate technology in teaching and learning. How can one in management deal with this challenge?
